Back in the Day
Strata Studio Pro. Old school graphic arts tools of the trade. This crude model was built to familiarize myself with the software.
The logo on the barrel of the black marker is my signature for this illustration. In general I disapprove of the practice of signing commercial illustrations, but since I am the client in this circumstance, I signed it.
Magazine logo, cover design and illustration
Adobe Illustrator was used for the magazine flag "aboriginaltimes" design and artwork.
The publication has since abandoned this design, but it remains an example of legibility and simplicity.
Adobe Photoshop was used for the portraits of various Aboriginal community leaders. Photographs were used as the basis for these drawings. The focal portrait was dropped before publication, a disappointment.

Georgia Straight Cover
Illustrator, Photoshop, Quark. Cover illustration for Gay Pride issue of Georgia Straight featuring Two-Spirited Anasazi men. The typographic Straight Gay joke was quickly rejected and the illustration proudly and heavily edited by committee for publication. But I think the original concept is an example of clean, simple design.
